Dear Raider Nation,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Bernd Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive school community. I am so eager to meet with and get to know all of you!
Although this will be my first year as principal, my educational career spans over 16 years where I have served as assistant principal, school improvement grant administrator, instructional coach, and teacher. These experiences both in and out the classroom allowed me to learn about the many facets of education and have well prepared me for the role of principal. I am also a 3-time alumnus of Columbus State University, where I earned my Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, Masters degree in Middle Grades Math and Science Education, and Bachelors degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
On a personal note, I was born and raised right down the road in Milledgeville, GA. My husband and I are the proud parents of a son who is a junior and student athlete at Howard High School. We are also the proud fur-parents of a Frenchie puppy. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and reading.
My goal as the principal of Bernd Elementary is to develop the whole child by focusing on not only academic growth, but social and emotional wellbeing as well. I plan to accomplish this by guiding and supporting our staff to ensure they provide the best learning environment possible for our students to thrive while also partnering with parents and the community to foster an effective home-school-community connection.
In the coming days we will hold a variety of meet and greet events at the school and in the community. Please be on the lookout for those dates and times. I look forward to a great year ahead of us!
